Hurricane Irma is one of the strongest storms ever measured in the Atlantic and has caused catastrophic damage. Hurricane Irma has been already larger, stronger, and potentially more fatal than Harvey – and it’s not over yet. Irma has sent the Caribbean and several southern States into crisis mode after reportedly destroying ’95 per cent’ of Saint-Martin, Barbuda, and the British Virgin Islands. Hurricane Irma has destroyed homes and critical infrastructure.
More than 3.3 million homes and businesses across the state lost power, and it could take weeks to restore electricity to everyone. The Million people have been left stranded and homeless with no access to water or phone service. Curfews were imposed in Miami, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale and much of the rest of South Florida, and some arrests of violators were reported.
The Bahamas and Cuba are bracing for a similarly devastating impact, as is the State of Florida, which is currently being completely evacuated.
