Ulla-Stina Wikander was born 1957 in Kungälv, Sweden. She is currently living in Stockholm/Kullavik, Sweden and has been working as an artist since 1986. Wikander uses household appliances and cooking tools as the base of her cross-stitched sculptures, bestowing outdated objects with a new life.
For more than 10 years Wikander has collected cross stitch embroidery’s and today she has quite a big collection with over 100 different designs. Most of the items come from the 70s, like a sewing machine, vacuum cleaner, electric mixer, etc. yet the patterns she covers their bodies are much older.
Some of the small objects like an iron or a telephone, her a day or two to make, but the bigger installations take weeks to finish. Here are some of the beautiful cross-stitched sculptures created by Ulla-Stina Wikander, you can follow her on Instagram page for more stuff.
