Susan Clusener artist graduate of ceramic art, lives and works in California who create ceramics giant fruit sculptures. Clusener applies great skill and craftsmanship to her investigation of natural objects in her surroundings. In the sculpture entitled “Half Apple”, Clusener places tiny apples and a miniature tree within an opening of a two foot wide half sliced apple. Her inspiration is from nature and her creations is ecological.
Susan has created a fruit in human size in order to sensitize people about beauty, youth and the ephemeral of life. She currently creates her work at her studio in Nipomo, California, and teaches ceramics at Allan Hancock College, Santa Maria. These works are both powerful and playful.
