Livia Marin is a London-based Chilean artist was born in 1973 in Chile; she lives and works in London. Marin created interesting classic porcelain China pieces that seem to have melted and pooled on a hot summer day. She has trained as a sculptor, and earned her MFA from University of Chile. Her each piece seems to melt onto a surface while strangely retaining its original printed pattern.
Marin sculpts everyday objects – cups, bowls, jars and plates – modeled with ruptures, splits and crevices. Her work has been characterized throughout by large-scale installations and the appropriation of mass-produced and mass-consumed objects. Marin has two melting porcelain artwork called “Nomad Patterns” and “Broken Things”.
